Toto Wolff, head of the Mercedes team, commented on his team's British driver George Russell winning the Singapore Grand Prix.
Idman.biz reports with reference to Autosport that Wolff did not believe they would win in Singapore:
"Where did Mercedes get this speed? You tell me. Singapore has never been a pleasant place for us aerodynamically. If they had told me that we would be so dominant today, I wouldn't have believed it."
Wolff also did not hide his surprise at Mercedes' surprises:
"These cars are a box of surprises. If you ask McLaren why the last three races didn't work out, they will probably have a hard time answering. Max (Verstappen) came back and still didn't have enough pace. The same goes for Ferrari."
The winner of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix race was Mercedes team driver George Russell. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finished the race second, and Lando Norris (McLaren) finished third.
