McLaren's Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri is seen as one of the main contenders who gets a new chance to regain his position after recent results.
Idman.Biz reports that Piastri, who had a difficult race at the Mexican Grand Prix, gave up the championship lead to his teammate Lando Norris.
The Australian pilot, who was the leader for most of the season, is currently only one point behind Norris and there are four races left in the season.
In Mexico, Norris finished more than 30 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen, who finished second, and the tempo seems to be on his side now.
However, Formula 1 expert Chris Medland believes the situation could change.
"I expect a fight to the end between the two McLaren drivers. I think Oscar has a better chance. He gives a more stable impression despite the drop in tempo. Piastri is also more psychologically stable, a pilot who draws conclusions from his mistakes very quickly. He is only in his third year in Formula 1 and is already on the road to the championship. Norris is more variable under pressure," said Medland.
Meanwhile, some experts think that McLaren will choose one pilot as "number one" in the fight for the championship.
But the club's chief executive officer, Zek Brown, strongly rejected this option:
"We would rather lose than choose one of the drivers."
It should be reminded that Piastri, who debuted in Formula 1 in 2023 as part of the McLaren team, won his first victory in the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix, and his second victory in the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
