Lando Norris, the 2025 "Formula 1" world champion, took third place at the BBC's prestigious "Sports Personality of the Year" award.
According to Idman.Biz, Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy won the vote, while rugby player Ellie Kildann took second place.
Norris, like current darts world champion Luke Littler, was unable to attend the awards ceremony in Salford. The "F1" champion attended the event via video link.
"Hello everyone, good evening. Sorry I can't be with you today. I'm currently enjoying a little break. It's been a very good year for me," Norris said in his address to the event participants.
Previously, the British pilot attributed his failure to attend the event live to a continuing ski vacation to celebrate his first world champion title won in Abu Dhabi.
Luke Littler, who took second place in the 2024 category, had also announced in advance that he would not attend the ceremony. Because he doesn't consider himself a favorite and focuses on defending the world champion title.
