Carlos Sainz finished the qualifying session of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in second place and will start from the first row for the first time this season.
According to Idman.biz, the Williams team driver admitted that he was satisfied with the results of the session and highly appreciated the team's sound strategic decisions.
"We always go out at the right time and choose the right tires. As a result, I can show very good time. Yes, the best teams are usually four or five milliseconds faster, but today only Max was ahead of us. This is great news," said Sainz.
The Spanish pilot emphasized that the current result is proof of the potential of the FW47: "We have shown once again that our car is fast. Unfortunately, the races do not always go as we want, but I am sure that I can score points."
Sainz also shared his expectations for tomorrow's race: "Tomorrow's plan is to stay ahead and try to finish in the top three for the first time in the Williams car. If it works out, great; if not, we'll see what we can achieve."
