Spanish Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso commented on taking fourth place in the sprint qualifying stage of the Qatar Grand Prix.
According to Idman.Biz, he explained why he usually stands out in the sprint part of Formula 1 weekends.
"Definitely it was a good day. We showed one of the best results of the year on a difficult track with high-speed sections. Qualifying went well. There was pressure in the 2nd segment due to traffic, but we managed to move forward, and in the 3rd we did a good lap.
My strength in the sprint? I have 24 years of experience. I'm 44 years old, they always remind me of that. There are weaknesses such as fatigue and speed delay, but I know the car, the tires and the track. I know every curb in every autodrome of the World Championship. I know how to get the most out of it on Friday. Then on Saturday the closed park mode is canceled, everyone makes small changes to the car and it seems everyone is moving forward.
We'll see. We are moving forward step by step. First sprint, then we hope to improve the settings a little more with the turning behind the wheel," AS quoted Alonso as saying.
