Zelim Tckayev, the bronze medalist of the European Championship held in Tbilisi in the 81 kg weight category, evaluated his performance at the tournament.
In a statement to the journalist of Idman.Biz who was sent to Tbilisi, the judoka emphasized the importance of the medal, although he was not completely satisfied with the result.
"My goal in this tournament was to win. But we won a medal, and this is the most important thing for both me and our team. Of course, I wanted a higher result," said Zelim Tckayev.
The Azerbaijani judoka also touched upon his semi-final match against Georgian representative Tato Grigalashvili:
"Yes, I lost to Grigalashvili in the semi-final. This is not my first defeat to that opponent, but there is no psychological factor here. We will work on this. It is necessary to draw conclusions, eliminate mistakes, and defeat him next time," the athlete noted.
He also declined to comment on the performance of the referees.
