The world judo rankings have been updated in various weight categories.
İdman.biz reports that the only Azerbaijani judoka currently holding the top spot in the ranking table is Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg).
At the same time, Japanese athletes who won the last world championship in Budapest - Ryuju Nagayama (60 kg), Takeshi Takeoka (66 kg) and Sanshiro Murao (90 kg) - lead in three weight categories.
The other two athletes who rose to the top of the rankings are Timur Arbuzov (81 kg) and Matvey Kanikovsky (100 kg), who compete under the flag of the International Judo Federation - they also won gold medals at the World Championships held in the capital of Hungary.
In addition, Inal Tasoev, the world champion in the super heavyweight category (+100 kg) competing under neutral status, is also ranked 1st.
Thus, Heydarov is the only athlete in the current rankings who has maintained his leadership despite an unsuccessful performance at the last world championship. All other leaders are the recent world champions.
