On October 18, 2025, an extraordinary conference of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (AJF) was held.
"Report" reports with reference to the AJF press service that the event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, the President of the Federation Rashad Nabiyev, members of the Executive Committee and other officials. The conference began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In his opening speech, the President of the AJF expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for his attention and support to Azerbaijani sports and the development of judo. It was emphasized that as a result of the head of state's continued support for sports, Azerbaijan is today recognized as a strong sporting nation in the world. It was decided to send a letter of gratitude to the head of state on behalf of the Federation within the framework of the conference.
It was stated that the achievements are the result of the joint efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, the Federation, sports organizations, coaches, athletes and all members of the judo family.
In his speech, the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov highly appreciated the activities of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation in recent years. He emphasized the importance of both sports achievements and the work done in the direction of popularizing judo and education.
At the conference, the composition of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation was determined. Rashad Nabiyev, Rovshan Rustamov, Elnur Mammadli, Rashad Rasulllu, Asif Asgarov, Azer Asgarov, Nazim Huseynov, Movlud Miraliyev and Elkhan Mammadov were elected as members of the committee. According to the decision of the conference, Rashad Nabiyev was approved as the President of the Federation, Rovshan Rustamov and Elnur Mammadli as Vice-Presidents, and Rashad Rasulllu as Executive Vice-President.
Also, a vote was held to elect the members and chairman of the AJF Audit Committee. Natig Baghirov, Dilara Mammadova and Orkhan Asadov were approved as members of the committee, and Natig Baghirov was elected as the Chairman of the Committee.
Then, an expanded meeting of the newly elected Executive Committee was held. The meeting was attended by representatives of sports organizations, clubs and judo coaches. At the beginning of the meeting, Rashad Rasulllu, Executive Vice-President of the AJF, presented the activity report covering 2022–2025. Then, an exchange of views was held with coaches on the development and popularization of judo in the regions, and the participants' suggestions and recommendations were listened to.
The President of the AJF, Rashad Nabiyev, stated at the meeting that today, judo is developing in almost all regions of the country, new clubs are opening and restoration work is being carried out in existing halls. It was emphasized that judo makes an important contribution to keeping children and young people away from harmful habits, spending their time efficiently, as well as protecting girls from early marriage and involving them in sports.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that coaches play a decisive role in this process, and it was stated that the Federation's goal is not only to win medals, but also to support the upbringing of healthy and worthy young people.
During the meeting, it was noted that training programs will be continuously implemented by the AJF for the professional development of coaches. At the same time, activities will continue to strengthen the material and technical base of judo halls, create new clubs and open judo sections.
The proposals put forward during the meeting will be added to the federation's work program after appropriate analysis by the AJF secretariat and will be implemented in a planned manner.
