"There is no miracle here, just hard work".
Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Nijat Shikhalizade, the coach of the Azerbaijani team, commenting on the result achieved on the first day of the European Judo Championships among cadets held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
The team won 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals on the first day of the competition, rising to the lead in the overall standings.
Shikhalizade said that such a result was a pleasant surprise for them: "A lot of hard work stands behind this result. But we still didn't expect so many medals. We hoped for two medals, but we won six medals! We are very happy. This is only the first day and we have already surpassed ourselves. We will continue our fight today as well".
It should be noted that Anar Guliyev (50 kg), Rasul Alizade (55 kg) and Zeyd Alasgarov (60 kg) won gold, Narmin Agamirzazade (48 kg) won silver, and Gulshan Huseynova (44 kg) and Leyla Alakbarova (48 kg) won bronze medals.
