Idman.Biz reports that Gamzatkhanov faced Japanese representative Gai Hatakeyama in the 1/4 final stage. Although our judoka lost to his opponent in a tense match and lost the chance for a gold medal, he gained the right to compete in the consolation group.
In the consolation match, Jamal Gamzatkhanov faced Ukrainian athlete Yevgeny Balyevsky. Our representative, who won confidently over his opponent, qualified for the decisive match for the bronze medal.
