On the final day of the Judo Grand Prix tournament held in Linz, Austria, another heavyweight representative of Azerbaijan made a successful start to the competition. Jamal Gamzatkhanov, a member of our national team, also won confidently in his first match.
Idman.Biz reports that Gamzatkhanov, competing in the +100 kg weight category, faced British athlete Wesley Greenidge in the 1/16 final stage. Our judoka, who demonstrated a superior wrestling performance than his opponent, won and qualified for the 1/8 finals.
It should be noted that Ushangi Kokauri, another representative competing in the same weight category earlier, also defeated his Polish opponent and advanced to the 1/8 finals. In the previous days of the tournament, Vusal Galandarzade won a "silver" medal, and Omar Rajabli won a "bronze" medal.

During the tense match, our judoka gained the advantage by scoring a waza-ari point. Ushangi maintained this advantage until the end of the match, defeating his opponent and qualifying for the 1/8 finals.

Jamal Gamzatkhanov will face British representative Wesley Greenidge. Our other judoka, Ushangi Kokauri, will test his strength against Polish Jakub Sordyl.
