"In the Golden Score, Zelim Tckayev acted smartly, avoiding risks, continuing to attack and control the distance. This tactic was the right choice".
Idman.biz reports that the International Judo Federation (IJF) commented on the victory of the Azerbaijani judoka in the bronze medal match at the World Championships in Budapest with these words.
The organization's website analyzed in detail the small final match between Tckayev and Nugzari Tatalaşvili, representing the UAE, in the 81 kg weight category: "In the bronze medal match, two physically strong and dynamic judokas entered the tatami and presented the audience with a magnificent show. Tatalashvili, who was in excellent form during the day, was immediately ready to attack. However, since Tckayev could both attack, perform techniques, and fight on the ground, the beginning almost resulted in him holding Tatalashvili. There was even a very close moment with a painful technique!
Then quick grips played a key role, and Tckayev also won the second round - he almost knocked his opponent down with an "uchi-mata", but the UAE representative's acrobatic maneuvers helped him get out of the situation. Zelim demonstrated superiority throughout the fight, and Tatalashvili was penalized with two "shido" before the match went into extra time.
In the "Golden score" stage, Tckayev acted smartly, avoiding risks, continuing to attack and keep the distance under control. This strategy paid off, and the third "shido" came for Tatalashvili - which earned Tckayev a bronze medal at the World Championships".
It should be noted that this is the first medal of the Azerbaijani judo team in the current World Championship.
