"I am very happy, everything turned out the way I wanted it to."
Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Farhad Rajabli, who won the European Championship for the 11th time among veterans.
The Azerbaijani veteran athlete shared his impressions of his victory at the continental championship held in Riga, the capital of Latvia: "I had three meetings and each opponent had their own strength. I felt that I was well prepared, especially the final fight was very memorable. I have been doing judo continuously since I was 12 years old and there is a simple reason that motivates me: it has been a part of my life and that is me. Now, the children of my brothers and sisters are eagerly waiting for each new medal, and sometimes I think that they are even happier with these awards than I am. Someone on Facebook even called me the 'ambassador of judo.' Maybe that's true, but I don't do it for fame, I do it for my love for judo and my country."
Farhad Rajabli told the website of the European Judo Union that he has always proudly represented his country: "Judo is not an easy sport, especially as you get older. But it has given me everything: direction in university admission, military service and throughout my life. It has always shown me the right way and I am very grateful for that."
