The official opening ceremony of the European Judo Cup among juniors was held on April 4 at the Ganja Sports Palace.
Idman.Biz reports that the event started with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Then, the participants and guests were greeted, and the importance of Ganja as one of the cities hosting international sports competitions was emphasized.
It was announced at the opening ceremony that the tournament is organized jointly by the European Judo Union, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan Judo Federation. 269 athletes from 10 countries are competing in the competition.
The sports commissioner of the European Judo Union, Patrice Rognou, the representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Javad Javadov, and the advisor to the president of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Natig Bagirov, spoke in the official part. In the speeches, special attention was paid to the state's care for the development of sports in our country, the organization of international competitions in the regions, and the role of such tournaments in the development of young athletes. The speakers wished the participants of the competition success and expressed their gratitude to all parties involved in the high-level organization of the tournament.
Then an artistic part was presented. The performance of the "Khamsa" rhythm and dance ensemble of Ganja City Children's Art School added a special color to the ceremony.
It should be noted that the European Cup among juniors organized in Ganja will last two days.

Five athletes representing Azerbaijan in the European Judo Cup among juniors held in Ganja have advanced to the final stage.
Idman.Biz reports that Farid Rzazade (50 kg), Ibrahim Talibov and Rza Khalilili (both 55 kg), Ilkin Garayev (66 kg) and Fatima Farmanzade (48 kg) have won the right to participate in decisive matches.
The battles for medals will be held in the second half of the day.
It should be noted that the European Cup will end on April 5.

The European Judo Cup among juniors has started in Ganja.
Idman.Biz reports that 269 judokas from 10 countries (180 boys, 89 girls) are participating in the international competition held at the Ganja Sports Palace.
On the first day of the tournament, boys compete in the 50, 55, 60 and 66 kg, and girls in the 40, 44, 48 and 52 kg weight categories.
In the European Cup, along with our country, judokas from Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Tajikistan, Turkey and the United States of America are testing their strength in 16 weight categories. Azerbaijan, which is hosting a similar competition for the fourth time, is represented by 127 athletes in the tournament.
It should be noted that the European Cup organized at the Ganja Sports Palace will end on April 5.
