The Azerbaijani national fencing team took sixth place at the World Cup held in Lima, the capital of Peru. Sport24.az reports that the national team consisting of Anna Bashta, Sabina Karimova, Palina Kaspiarovich, and Zarifa Huseynova took 6th place among 24 countries in the competition.
In the first match, the sabreurs, who defeated the Colombian team with a score of 45:27, defeated the Japanese team, which is considered one of the rating favorites of the tournament, with a score of 45:39 in the match for promotion to the strongest "Top 8".
The national team, one step away from the bronze medal, faced the Polish sabreurs in the semi-final match. The match ended with a 45:44 victory for the opponent.
In the matches for 5th-8th places, the team defeated the Korean team with a score of 45:41 and lost to the Italian team with a score of 42:45.
