Young Italian Rally Driver Dies During Testing

21-year-old Italian racing driver Matteo Doretto died during testing before a stage of the European Rally Championship in Poland.

Lent.az reports that co-driver Samuele Pellegrino was not injured and was taken to hospital for examination.

Doretto was considered a rising star in motorsport. In 2024, he won the Italian Junior Championship, which gave him the right to participate in the European Championship.

The championship organizers have expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased athlete.
