Toto Wolff, head of the "Mercedes" team, assessed the results of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix and stated that the team is satisfied with the result.
İdman.biz reports that in terms of points, the "silver arrows" lost only to the "Red Bull" team: George Russell took second place, and Kimi Antonelli took fourth place.
"We had a good weekend and are leaving Azerbaijan with a successful result. It is nice to return to the podium with George's second place. It is also gratifying that Kimi scored a lot of points for the team. Of course, we always only think about winning, but this result creates optimism after two difficult races after the summer break," Volff said in a statement to the team's press service.
Volff also congratulated "Williams" and Carlos Sainz on their 3rd place. He emphasized that Antonelli did his best to get closer to his rivals, but they were too fast. He also specifically noted that the Italian pilot overtook Liam Lawson by performing a maneuver that the "Ferrari" and "Red Bull" drivers could not do.
The team leader also praised Russell, who started despite being ill and won the podium: "It was not clear on Friday and Saturday whether he would be on the track at all. But he coped with it by showing a great result."
