"Formula 1" driver Sergio Perez has made a statement regarding the progress of work at the "Cadillac" team, which is preparing to debut in the new season.
Idman.Biz reports that the American representative tested its new car on the track for the first time this week at the Barcelona test. In addition to Perez, Valtteri Bottas also took the wheel during the tests.
"Cadillac", together with the new technical regulations that come into force at the beginning of the season, will increase the number of "Formula 1" participants to more than 10 for the first time since 2016. At the Barcelona tests, the team completed a total of 164 laps, and this indicator was only less than that of "Aston Martin".
Sergio Perez stated that the tests were useful:
"We did enough runs in Barcelona for three days and collected a lot of valuable data. As a team, we have begun to learn about the car, the settings and the direction we will be going in. The main goal of this test is to identify the points we can improve before the races".
"Cadillac" will participate in the second pre-season test in Bahrain a week later. Perez emphasized that the team is waiting for a busy but also exciting period:
"There is a lot of work ahead of us, because we are a new team. But this process is very exciting. I enjoy being part of the team again, there is a strong spirit here to move forward".
It should be noted that "Cadillac" will participate in its first official race in "Formula 1" at the Australian Grand Prix next month.
