Pierre Waché, Technical Director of "Red Bull Racing", announced that the RB22 model has a weight problem.
Idman.Biz reports that the French specialist stated that reaching the minimum limit in accordance with the updated regulations is difficult for almost all teams.
After the latest changes, the FIA reduced the permissible minimum weight of cars from 798 kilograms to 768 kilograms. This has created a serious challenge for engineers. Since every extra kilogram now affects lap time, teams are literally fighting a weight battle.
According to reports, "Williams" and "Mercedes" are also facing similar problems and their cars are also a few kilograms heavier than the norm.
Waché commented on the situation as follows:
"Like everyone else, we are trying to reduce weight after the winter. This applies to everyone. Maybe some have done a better job than us. But we will have to find some weight in the car. Our philosophy is always to make the car faster."
It should be noted that when the regulations changed in 2022, "Red Bull" initially started with a heavy car, but later eliminated the problem and established dominance. In that season, Max Verstappen easily reached the championship.
