Red Bull team boss Laurent Mekies has stated that Formula 1 should focus on solving the qualifying issue for the 2027 season.
Idman.Biz reports that the Formula 1 commission will meet on April 9 to discuss the results of the first three rounds of the season. The agenda includes the qualifying format, as well as the issue of the large difference in speed between the cars.
"One thing we all agree on, I think all the teams and the sport - FIA, Formula 1 and the drivers - is that we all want to see qualifying as early as possible. That's the first thing we're trying to focus on as a sport. What happens is that once you improve or get the fastest possible qualifying, you automatically get a race that potentially has less tactical impact.
The level of these tactics in the race can probably be addressed properly. There are many different views on this matter. The most important thing is that we approach the fastest possible qualifying; We are currently trying to achieve this as a sport," Crash.net quotes Mekies.
