Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher shared his thoughts on the tense battle between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc at Ferrari.
Idman.Biz reports that the former driver stated during his appearance on the "Sky Sport Germany Backstage Boxengasse" podcast that this situation affects everyone, even the mechanics.
"I think the issue mainly comes down to contracts, and that's the main problem. You can't forget that two big egos are sitting in these cars. I understand this very well because it has happened in the past. But it really affects the team. Even the mechanic who works from morning to night, putting all his effort into it like everyone else, feels it. If these two 'bulls' in front lose their position, get a five-second penalty, or damage the cars by colliding, it hurts the whole team. Sometimes you just have to react to it," Schumacher said.
Schumacher also noted that this competition is interesting for fans and the media:
"For us, this is of course great, we have a topic to talk about and it makes things more exciting. As long as they don't crash into each other, everything is fine. But for the team, it is clear that this is not the best way to win the race. There is no doubt about that."
