Former Formula 1 driver and current expert Ralf Schumacher has criticized the McLaren team for losing the victory at the Qatar Grand Prix.
Idman.Biz reports that Red Bull driver Max Verstappen finished first at the Qatar Grand Prix. McLaren's Oscar Piastri finished the race second, and Williams' Carlos Sainz finished third.
"I think Stella actually said, 'No, it was my decision - I made a mistake.' That's it. And frankly, I don't understand that at all, because the leading driver is always on top - he's faster. In this case, it was Piastri. He absolutely had to be called in for a pit stop. So you cover both options. That's the ABC of motorsport. You don't need a PhD to understand that. So I can't understand it.
The engineer must take responsibility and make decisions for his driver based on the differences. I think there is a breakdown in the chain of command. There must be someone responsible. And I suspect - I don't want to say it from on high - there is someone very ambitious there.
But I think the bigger challenge is convincing Piastri, who they took the victory from, that the difference with Norris is still insurmountable and that Max is getting closer. Now the situation is playing into Norris' hands," said Schumacher.
