The international "Peking to Paris Motor Challenge", one of the most exciting automobile races in the world, is crossing Azerbaijan for the second time.
"Report" reports that the retro car rally is organized with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation and the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.
Alovsat Heydarov, an employee of Baku City Circuit Operations Company, said that the "Peking to Paris Motors Challenge" is a real test for the automobile legends of the 20th century and their crews: "In 37 days, participants will travel 14,500 kilometers through 12 countries. The race started on the Great Wall of China on May 17 and has already reached Azerbaijan, passing through China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan."
Car enthusiasts were able to closely observe these rare retro cars at the exhibition held in the Seaside National Park, in front of the "Seven Beauties" fountain. At the event, the oldest participant of the race - the 1917 American LaFrance Type 10, and the "youngest" car - the 1984 Toyota Hilux were presented.
On June 9, the Azerbaijan stage of the race will start in front of the Heydar Aliyev Center. This stage will pass through Gobustan, Shamakhi, the Acinohur-Jeyranchol plain and other beautiful regions of Azerbaijan and will end in the city of Gakh. 55 retro cars are participating in the race in Azerbaijan. On June 10, the participants will leave our country and continue their journey along the interesting routes of Georgia and Turkey. Then, passing through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria and Switzerland, they will head to France, the final stop of the race.
It should be reminded that the "Peking to Paris" car rally first took place in 1907, and this is the second time in the history of the race that it passes through the territory of Azerbaijan.
