Gina-Maria Betke, the daughter of seven-time "Formula 1" champion Michael Schumacher, has shared how she coped with the consequences of her father's tragic accident in 2013.
Idman.Biz reports that Betke notes that horses helped her cope with the difficulty.
According to Bild, Betke said, "After my father's accident, I really dedicated myself to it because I had to do something. Horses have always been important, but since then they... I can't live without them. They helped me cope with everything."
Michael Schumacher's daughter has not appeared in public since then. In January, the Daily Mail reported that the driver was no longer bedridden - that he was using a wheelchair and could be wheeled around his Majorca property. He receives 24-hour care from doctors and nurses.
Cina's mother, Corinna, also shared her memories: "Michael once told me when Gina was 10 years old: 'Gina will be better than you. Because she is more selfish. An athlete has to be selfish in a way. That's great. Otherwise, you can't achieve anything.' Today I think: he was so right."
In April 2025, Gina gave birth to her first child from her husband, Itan Betke, whom she married in September 2024. Their wedding took place at the family villa in Mallorca. Although there were rumors that Michael Schumacher attended the ceremony, there is no official confirmation.
