Andrea Stella, the head of the McLaren team, said that the team knew about the difficulties in Monza and did not expect the same advantage as in previous races.
İdman.biz reports that in the Italian Grand Prix, McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished second and third, behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who showed the best pace.
"I must admit that we did not expect to dominate as we did in Hungary and Zandvoort. We didn't think that there would be the same difference between us and our rivals here either, but we thought we could be as fast as everyone else. But in the qualifying stage, Red Bull was 0.1-0.2 seconds faster than us. They increased the pace a bit in the race. This pace was enough for Verstappen to overtake Lando and create a big gap from the first stage," Stella said.
