Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton hopes to improve his position in today's main race, even though he stopped competing in the second part of the qualifying stage of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Idman.biz reports that Hamilton has revealed his expectations for the main race.
"Our main task is to move forward, and to do this, we need to overtake our rivals. The car showed excellent speed in practice, and overall, it has been impressive all weekend. I think the car is working better this time than in previous stages," the pilot said.
According to the British pilot, the Baku track allows to demonstrate high pace and make overtakes. He added that the choice of tactics will depend on the weather conditions, temperature and wind: "My hope is on our race pace. Moreover, there is an excellent track in Baku and it is possible to overtake here. I think one pit stop may be enough. But if the weather gets cold like yesterday, there may be problems with the tires. Let's wait and see how it goes."
