The champion of the 2025 Formula 2 season has been determined. 20-year-old Italian driver Leonardo Fornaroli, competing for the Invicta Virtuosi Racing team in the series, secured his title early based on the results of the main race.
Idman.Biz reports that Fornaroli finished second in the race held at the Lusail track, losing only to Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix). Alex Dunn (Rodin Motorsport) finished in third place.
This result secured the championship for the Italian driver, regardless of the results of the remaining races.
Fornaroli continues his rise in the junior series. He was the Formula 3 champion in the 2024 season and also debuted in Formula 2 with the Rodin team in two final stages.
It should be noted that last year he became the first driver in history to win the F-3 championship without winning a single race during the season.
