Swiss driver Laura Villars has announced that she will participate in the elections for the president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
Idman.biz reports, citing the Russian press, that the 28-year-old pilot said this in a statement.
Laura stated that the FIA should again be a federation of clubs and license holders: "My goal is to make governance more democratic, transparent, accountable, open to women and the new generation. I am sure that motorsport needs diversity and innovation to inspire the world".
The FIA presidential elections will be held on December 12 this year.
It should be noted that Villars participated in a total of 58 races during her career - "Ultimate Cup Series F3R", "F4 UAE", "Ferrari Challenge Europe" and "Europe Ligier Series" competitions. In 2023, she completed a full season in the "Ultimate Cup Series F3R" and finished 5th in the overall standings. In 2025, she will compete in the "Europe Ligier JS P4 Series" with the Virage team.
