Italian driver Kimi Antonelli of the Mercedes team has won the third stage of the 2026 Formula 1 season – the Japanese Grand Prix.
Lent.az reports that the second place in the race held at the Suzuka Circuit was taken by Australian driver Oscar Piastri of the McLaren team.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished third.
Antonelli has 72 points, and the 19-year-old Italian became the youngest championship leader in Formula 1 history. In second place is his British teammate George Russell (63 points), and in third place is Leclerc (49 points). The leader in the Constructors' Cup is the Mercedes team (135 points), followed by Ferrari (90 points) and McLaren (46 points).
The next stage will be held in Miami from May 1 to 3. Before the US, races were planned in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, but they were canceled due to the situation in the Middle East.
