"The qualifying round of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Formula 1 gave fans a lot of emotions and was a serious test for the teams."
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by James Vowles, head of the Williams team.
He said that the tension at the Baku track was unprecedented: "It is difficult to say whether it rained today or not, but looking at the images from many cameras, it still drizzled. I am very pleased with the team's work over the last ten days. If we did not perform well in the qualifying rounds before, this weekend we were able to immediately solve the tasks related to the tires. The fast car allowed Carlos Sainz to show excellent results.
James added that the qualifying round was stopped six times with a red flag due to difficult conditions, which further increased the tension: "I think this qualifying round took three years of my life! It was especially not easy to work with the softest C6 compound tires, because there is no room for error. But the good news is that the car is fast and Carlos has two sets of Hard tires. Tomorrow's race is very unpredictable: there will be both safety cars and red flags."
