Mercedes technical director James Allison shared his thoughts on the pre-season tests in Barcelona.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to Motorsport that Ellison said the main surprise was the high level of reliability observed across all teams.
"I think the biggest surprise for us, and probably for our competitors as well, was the level of reliability we saw across the entire starting grid. Given so much change, it would have been logical to expect the first tests to turn into a symphony of red flags and smoking cars, but that didn't happen," said the technical director.
According to him, in most cases, the reliability of the cars was at the same level as last year's tests, and in some cases even better:
"In many cases, the reliability of the cars was comparable to the indicators in last year's tests, and in some cases it was even higher. Whereas last year everything had already been tested and fully studied".
