The new S1 LM supercar from "Gordon Murray Special Vehicles", owned by Gordon Murray, one of the world's most famous automotive engineers, has been sold at auction for a record price.
İdman.Biz reports that the GMSV S1 LM model was sold for $20.6 million (approximately 35.1 million AZN) at the "RM Sotheby's" auction held during the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.
According to Motor1, this amount is considered the highest price in history for a new car at open sale.
The S1 LM supercar was presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August this year. The model resembles the "McLaren F1" in appearance and is equipped with a 4.3-liter "Cosworth V12" engine. The car, with a power of 700 horsepower, weighs only 957 kilograms. GMSV plans to release only five of these cars in total. The owner of the auctioned example will be able to personally participate in the production and testing phase of their car. Four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti will also participate in the tests.
It should be noted that Gordon Murray Special Vehicles is also preparing to produce the Le Mans GTR model.
