This year, the commercial value of "Formula-1" teams has reached a historical maximum.
İdman.Biz reports that "Forbes" has released the team values participating in "Formula-1" for 2025, and a record increase has been recorded in the list.
The average value of the teams currently stands at $3.6 billion (approximately 6.12 billion AZN), which is 89% higher than last year.
The most valuable teams
According to the data, "Ferrari" is valued as the most expensive team in the organization at $6.5 billion (approximately 11.04 billion AZN). "Mercedes", which ranks second, is valued at $6 billion (approximately 10.18 billion AZN). Both teams surpass even some NFL and NBA clubs.
A significant increase has also been observed in the values of other teams. For example, "McLaren" is valued at $4.4 billion (approximately 7.46 billion AZN) after its financial performance in 2024. The market value of teams such as "Aston Martin" and "Alpine" has also increased sharply in the last two years.
Reasons for the sharp increase in value
Experts point to factors such as limits on expenses (170 million dollars - approximately 288 million AZN in the current season), increased sponsor revenues, expansion of media rights - especially the annual 140 million dollar (approximately 237 million AZN) deal with Apple TV in the USA - as well as the growing investor interest in "Formula-1" as the main reasons for the increase. In 2024, the average annual income of the teams was 430 million dollars (approximately 730 million AZN), and most of the teams are already operating with a profit.
Risks of the future
However, "Formula-1" also has structural limitations: only 24 Grand Prix are held in the championship, sponsor spots on the car are limited, and market growth may slow down compared to previous years. "Forbes" states that for these reasons, F-1 has not yet fully approached the commercial values of major leagues such as the NFL and NBA. However, against this background, the high demand and the initial investment of more than $1 billion (approximately 1.7 billion AZN) by the "Cadillac" team, which will join the series in 2026, indicate that the market value of "Formula-1" teams will increase even more in the coming years.
