Formula 1 season's ninth round starts in Spain

The program for the ninth round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship season - the Spanish Grand Prix - starts on Friday.

According to "Report", the race will be held at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit.

The fight for the title in the individual standings is heating up.

After a less than confident start, last season's vice-champion, Briton Lando Norris, is gradually getting in shape; in Monaco, he performed perfectly, winning both the qualifying stage and the race, and is now only three points behind his teammate, Australian Oscar Piastri. Four-time world champion Max Verstappen from Red Bull, who is 25 points behind the leader of the individual standings, can take advantage of the McLaren drivers' fight at any moment.

Barcelona has hosted a round of the world championship since 1991. The circuit was built according to the project of Luis Perez-Sala, who tried to take into account all the best ideas of European tracks. The race track consists of 16 turns - 7 left and 9 right. The starting straight is 1,047 meters long and is the longest high-speed section of the track.

The record holders for the number of victories in the Spanish Grand Prix are seven-time world champions German Michael Schumacher and Briton Lewis Hamilton, who have each won six times. Verstappen (2016, 2022, 2023, 2024) and Spaniard Fernando Alonso (2006, 2013) have also won in Barcelona from the current drivers.
