Belgian journalist and former model Virginie Filippo has announced her candidacy for the presidency of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
Idman.biz reports that the current FIA president is Mohammed bin Sulayem.
"I am running for the FIA presidency. Not to be "first", but to make sure I am not the last. I believe that motorsport must impact the real world by making it bolder, more colourful and unified.
As a woman with a global perspective and deep roots, I am here to open doors that have been closed for too long. Let's build an FIA that truly embraces every voice, every story and every passion. The race of the future starts now," Filippo wrote on her social media page.
The current president of the International Automobile Federation, Mohammed bin Sulayem, has confirmed that he will run for re-election. The elections will be held on December 12 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
