Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso continues to rewrite Formula 1 history.
According to İdman.biz, in the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the two-time world champion will participate in his 418th race, renewing his achievement and Formula 1 record for the number of starts in the championship. The Spanish driver is already in his 22nd season and has no plans to end his career.
Recalling his most memorable moments, Alonso noted that many fans highlight his victory in Valencia in 2012. However, the pilot himself singled out the 2011 race in Malaysia, saying that he faced serious gearbox problems there.
In that race, Alonso finished sixth, losing more than 20 seconds to his teammate Felipe Massa.
It is worth recalling that Fernando Alonso was the star ambassador of the first Formula 1 race held in Baku in 2016. At that time, it was called the European Grand Prix. The 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be held from September 19 to 21.
