According to Bloomberg, the Chinese company BYD is exploring options to participate in various motorsport series, including Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Idman.Biz reports that the manufacturer's interest is linked to its rapid growth in international markets and the transition to hybrid engines in motorsport.
However, according to one of the publication's sources, direct participation in Formula 1 is seriously in doubt. The company is exploring options such as buying an existing team and creating a new one, but the potential costs of entering and competing in the championship are a barrier in both cases.
A final decision has not yet been made. It is possible that BYD will completely abandon the idea of entering motorsport.
