Former Alpine CEO Marcin Budkowski has spoken about Max Verstappen's potential departure from Red Bull.
According to Idman.Biz, Budkowski believes that Max has potential reasons to leave the team.
"Helmut Marko's departure creates opportunities. Max has potential reasons to leave the team. But let's admit that everything will be determined by the car's and team's competitiveness. Of course, the engine as part of the car. If Red Bull has a dominant car next year and the team is on the verge of a new era of dominance, Max will think twice before leaving. I think he has a good relationship with Laurent Mekies," Budkowski said.
In his opinion, next year will be incredibly important for the driver market. Many will be watching who has a good car, who will perform well and who will not, especially as it relates to engines.
"As you know, it's easy to mimic a car during the season or next year and at least partially compensate for aerodynamic deficiencies. It's more difficult with engines. I think there is an opportunity window for Max to leave. The probability of his departure is high, but if Red Bull has a dominant car, it won't happen," RacingNews365 quoted Budkowski as saying.
