A "Nestle" spokesperson told "The Athletic" that a truck carrying 12 tons of "KitKat" chocolate bars produced in partnership with "Formula 1" was stolen in Europe.
Idman.Biz reports that the truck was carrying 413,793 bars from central Italy to Poland. The truck has disappeared. According to the company, no one was injured during the incident.
"We have always encouraged people to take a break with "KitKat", but it seems that the thieves have taken this very literally and are taking a break with more than 12 tons of our chocolate. While we appreciate the thieves' exceptional taste, the fact remains: cargo theft is a growing problem for businesses of all sizes," the brand spokesperson said in a statement.
"KitKat" was the official chocolate bar of "Formula 1" last year as part of the championship's 75th and the brand's 90th anniversaries. The stolen bars have a unique batch code, which allows each bar to be tracked.
