Liverpool Football Club has received a positive response from those around Spanish coach Xabi Alonso after approaching his representatives about possible cooperation.
Lent.az, citing foreign media, reports that representatives of the English club have confirmed that Alonso is ready to consider offers, despite taking a break from work after leaving Real Madrid. The Spanish specialist is in no hurry to make a decision, but understands that he will be well received by the team.
It is reported that Liverpool are considering the Spanish specialist as a candidate for the upcoming seasons, including the 2026/27 season. The club's management intends to keep the current head coach, Arne Slot, until the end of this season.
Alonso is 44 years old. During his playing career, he played for Liverpool from 2004 to 2009.
As a coach, the Spanish specialist led Bayer Leverkusen from October 2022 to May 2025, and then Real Madrid from June 2025.
He was dismissed in January. Under his leadership, the team played 34 matches, won 24, drew 4 and lost 6.
