Joint activities have begun within the framework of the implementation of the cooperation memorandum signed between the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation (ASF) and the Special Olympics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOC).
Idman.Biz reports that classes have been organized in accordance with the document.
Training has started under the leadership of Elvin Huseynov.
According to the memorandum, a swimming pool has been allocated to ensure that athletes in this category are covered by regular training and to create suitable conditions for them, and a professional coach has also been appointed by the ASF. Continuous support in this direction is planned.
Representatives of the SOC and ASF observed the training process. Rashad Abdurrahmanov, advisor of ASF, and Murad Hashimov, chairman advisor of SOC, answered questions from media representatives. At the same time, there was an exchange of views on the work done to involve people with intellectual disabilities in sports, existing cooperation mechanisms and priority areas for the coming period.
The parties emphasized the importance of developing an inclusive sports environment, more broadly involving participants in the training process, and strengthening sustainable support mechanisms in this area. In addition, it was noted that holding the trainings on the eve of World Autism Awareness Day has a special meaning and significance.
