The "Sheki Open" international chess festival has started in Sheki.
Idman.biz reports that 260 chess players from 9 countries are participating in the competition.
In the first round of the A tournament, 15 participants won. Among them is Khagan Ahmad, who recently defeated the world's second grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura at the World Blitz Championship.
Also, the tournament's rating favorite, Ukrainian Vitali Bernadsky, won at the start.
"Sheki Open" is a stage of the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan", held on the initiative of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
The competition will be held in nine rounds according to the Swiss system and will end on June 25.
