Chess players from seven countries will participate in the "Sheki Open" international chess festival to be held in Shaki.
Idman.biz reports that, along with local chess players, representatives from India, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Ukraine will also participate in the tournament.
In total, 208 chess players have registered for the festival. 42 of them will perform in the A tournament and 162 in the B competition.
The rating favorite of the A tournament is Azerbaijani grandmaster Eltaj Safarli. Another compatriot, Ahmad Ahmadzade, is second on the list, and Ukrainian Vitaliy Bernadsky is third.
It should be noted that the "Sheki Open", which will be held on June 18-25, is a stage of the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" series initiated by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
