The Azerbaijan Chess Federation has started preparations for the second "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" tournament. Sport24.az reports that the competition will be held in Sheki from June 18 to 25.
37 players from seven countries have already applied to participate in the "Sheki Open" A tournament. The rating favorite is Azerbaijani grandmaster Eltaj Safarli, the second in the starting list is another Azerbaijani chess player Ahmad Ahmadzade, and the third is Vitali Bernadski (Ukraine).
150 chess players have registered for the B tournament, which will feature rapid and blitz competitions.
The "Chess Tour Azerbaijan", which started this year, consists of 8 competitions. The tournament kicked off with the "Baku Open", which ended two weeks ago.
