The opening ceremony of the fourth LANDAU Chess Festival among teenagers has been held.
Idman.biz reports that the festival was organized with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, and organized by the "LANDAU School" Education Complex.
At the opening ceremony, the First Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Faig Hasanov, the founder of LANDAU School Timur Leznik, and the advisor to the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rustam Agayev spoke and stated that the tournament supports the development of chess in the country and the increase of teenagers' interest in this sport.
Timur Leznik, the founder of LANDAU School, presented a souvenir to Faig Hasanov, the First Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, for his support in organizing the tournament.
The tournament, which will end on June 22, is organized in the "Sea Breeze" building of LANDAU School. Competitions are held among boys and girls aged 8, 10, and 12 - in personal and team accounts. 150 teenagers from different cities and regions are competing in the tournament.
Note that the chief judge of the LANDAU Chess Festival is Qudrat Ismayilov.
