The "Heydar Aliyev Cup-2025" international tournament among junior boxers has ended in Baku.
Idman.biz reports that 216 athletes from 8 countries tested their strength in the competition held at the Boxing Center.
In the six-day competition, winners were determined in 14 weight categories for boys and 9 for girls.
Officials of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation, prize-winners of the Olympic and World Championships, and officials of various federations watched the final fights held today. They also participated in the award ceremony.
The Azerbaijani national team finished the tournament with 35 medals. In the team of boys, coached by Vagif Kazimov, Ali Rushanov (44 kg), Ali Aliyev (48 kg), Shahin Aslanov (60 kg) and Saftar Mammadzade (+80 kg) won the champion title. Hasan Sarhadli (44 kg) and Ibrahim Badalli (54 kg), who lost only in the final, were satisfied with the second place.
Other boxers, Hasrat Mammadov, Abdulrahim Mammadov (both 44 kg), Gardash Rahimov (46 kg), Muhammad Rasulov (50 kg), Ali Jamalzade (52 kg), Sadiq Musayev (54 kg), Yusif Hasanli, Aflatun Ismiyev (both 57 kg), Nurlan Suleymanov (66 kg), Adil Zalov (70 kg), Nijat Imanov and Huseyn Vahabov (both 75 kg) won bronze medals.
In the team of girls led by Ilkin Aghayev, Aylin Nazarova (46 kg), Gular Huseynova (48 kg), Amina Taghi (50 kg), Jamila Muradli (52 kg) and Fidan Bakarova (66 kg) took first place. Nurgul Ojagova (46 kg), Ayan Novruzlu (48 kg), Sima Ismayilova (50 kg), Zahra Mammadova (52 kg), Aynur Ismayilova (60 kg), Gizbas Yusubova (70 kg) won silver, Fatima Aliyeva, Zahra Salimzade (both 54 kg), Sama Huseynova, Mirrukiyya Abdumajidova (both 57 kg), Madina Mammadova (60 kg) and Sama Abbasova (70 kg) won bronze medals.
Thus, the Azerbaijani national team finished the tournament with 9 gold, 8 silver and 18 bronze medals.
In the team standings, our national team took first place and won the Heydar Aliyev Cup. Russia (6-2-2) took the second place, while Kazakhstan (2-4-5) closed the "top three".
Saftar Mammadzade (Azerbaijan) was awarded the title of the best boxer of the championship. Elif Yıldırım (Turkey) was chosen as the best referee.
