"Sumgait is very similar to South Sudan." Sport24.az reports that this was stated by Sumgait basketball player Jay Jay Kolakon in a statement to the club's press service.
The basketball player also did not forget to praise Baku:
"There is no arguing about the architectural style. I have explored this city completely. As for Sumgait... I am from South Sudan, my roots also go back to Egypt. Sumgait is very similar to those places. The mentality, the lifestyle of people is very similar. That's why I feel comfortable here."
Kolakon also spoke about the Azerbaijani championship and his team: "The level of the Azerbaijan Basketball League is very high. It is not inferior to the level of the college league I played in the USA, and I like that. As for our team, each of our players can take responsibility and decide the fate of the match."
The player, who previously lived as a legionnaire in Finland, compared the Azerbaijani championship with the championship of that country:
"Compared to the Finnish championship, the level of the Azerbaijani championship is higher. Here, teams build their games more on forwards and center players. In Finland, point guards and defenders come to the fore."
