Selection competitions for the Azerbaijan Championship among chess players aged 8-16 have started.

It was reported that the selection competitions consist of regional and city championships. Regional competitions are organized in the cities of Shamakhi, Goranboy, Agjabedi, Shamkir, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Goychay, Imishli, Gakh, and Shirvan. Corresponding city championships are held in the cities of Ganja and Sumgayit.
The competitions are held in 10 categories across 5 age groups. The top 2 chess players in each age group in the regional selection competitions, and the top 3 in the Ganja and Sumgayit city championships, will qualify for the final stage of the Azerbaijan Championship, which will be held from March 24 to April 2.
It should be noted that the Baku City Championships and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Championship will start in February. The top 6 places from the Baku Championship and the top 3 places from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Championship will qualify for the final.
It should be noted that the competitions are managed by a panel of judges appointed by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
