Renowned expert Jurgen Klopp is working on creating a new football league in Germany.
İdman.Biz, citing "Bild", reports that Klopp is planning to establish a U-21 league.
The main goal of the project is to provide young footballers with real and continuous match experience before transitioning to the Bundesliga.
This idea emerged against the backdrop of concerning statistics regarding youth development in German football. Currently, only nine academies belonging to Germany are included in Europe's top 100 list. The Bundesliga also ranks last among the top 5 leagues in terms of playing time for its own academy graduates.
According to statistics, 85 percent of the total playing time in the Bundesliga belongs to footballers who did not come from club academies. This situation is considered a serious obstacle in the development of local talents.
It is reported that Klopp's planned U-21 league could cause structural changes in German football and create new opportunities for young players. Additional information regarding the details of the project is expected to be announced in the near future.
