"Lankaran"'s head coach said: "I had a very good time in a beautiful country"
The head coach of "Lankaran", Georgi Kondrusevich, who lost to "Ganja" in the play-in stage of the Azerbaijan Basketball League, evaluated the game. Sport24.az reports that the expert gave an explanation to the club's press service.
He also touched upon the team's performance during the season:
"We were able to compete for almost 3 periods. Then playing with 9 people and limited rotation options took its toll. One of our main players, Jaydem Faulkner, had to miss this match due to illness. This was more evident in the 4th period. The game was also psychologically difficult for us. Of course, we would have liked to put on a better game in front of our fans. I think we fought. At least we tried to do that."
The head coach associated this season's failures with problems in the squad:
"Unfortunately, we couldn't do it. But in such a strong league, it is difficult to win when there are always problems in the squad. But despite this, we defeated our opponents 3 times. Considering that the "Shaki" team won only 1 victory last year, it is not a bad result for a newly created team. It should be noted that we competed with a full squad in only 5 games. We were very close to winning in some matches. Unfortunately, luck was not on our side. I express my gratitude to our fans. They supported us. This was great motivation for me. Even if we didn't win, they supported us every time. As a coach, I did my best."
He singled out their first game against "Sumgayit":
"The most memorable match was the first game against "Sumgayit". Although we were 14 points behind there, we eventually won with a difference of 15 points. I think our first victory was memorable."
Kondrusevich emphasized that Azerbaijan is a very interesting country:
"Azerbaijan is a very interesting country. I met new people here. It was nice for me to be here. Overall, I can say that I had great days in a beautiful country. Lankaran was also a different place. It didn't look like Baku at all."
It should be noted that the "Lankaran" club stopped competing by losing both matches (92:96, 74:100) against "Ganja" in the play-in stage of the Azerbaijan Basketball League.
